Full and part-time General Catering Assistants are sought to join our dynamic, hard-working team providing a catering service of the highest standard for pupils, staff and visitors. Your main focus will be on food service and customer care, with some basic food preparation.
Oundle School is not an ordinary boarding school, it is an exceptional one, and our Catering Department produces exceptional food to match. Our General Catering Assistants don’t stand behind heat lamps at a buffet spooning food into trays; they are an integral and valued important part of the team, proudly serving food of the highest quality to discerning but grateful customers and, for those with an interest in food preparation there are ample opportunities to assist in the kitchen. But it’s not just meals for pupils - with events through the year from sporting fixtures to black tie dinners to cater for, the role is constant, busy, varied and very rewarding.
Working for a boarding school comes with its challenges – producing four meals a day 33 weeks of the year isn’t easy – but it also comes with additional benefits. Lengthy holiday periods, every other weekend off, and sociable hours largely unheard of in the catering industry. Throw in opportunities for career progression, regular staff training and benefits including membership of the swimming pool and access to the School’s outstanding sporting facilities and who wouldn’t want to work here?
Our catering staff work on a two week rota, with every other weekend off. Some split shifts are required. We currently have full time (average 40 hours per week) and part time (30 hours per week) roles available.
