Oundle Town Cricket Club

Oundle Town Cricket Club was founded in 1826 is recognised as the oldest cricket club in Northamptonshire…

“The gentlemen and tradesmen of Oundle and neighbourhood have lately established a Cricket Club, and if we may judge from the public spirit of the projectors, little doubt can be entertained of it soon attaining great celebrity. The anxiety of each gentleman to become an adept in this noble game and to escape “scot free” is kept alive by this plan, and the social hour enlivened by the well-earned bowl.”  The Huntingdon Journal – July 1826

The cricket club has a long association with Oundle School with many school masters having played for the club since its foundation. One such past club member of note is W.C.Grace Jnr (son of Dr W.G.Grace), who taught at Oundle from 1897 to 1903 during which time played regularly for Oundle Town Cricket Club.

In 1982 Oundle Town became one of the founder members of the Rutland League and then joined the Northamptonshire Cricket League in 2006 and have since won numerous trophies in each. OTCC began investing heavily in developing a Junior section in the 1990’s and as a result today has one of the largest junior sections in the county.

The club puts out three mens sides on a Saturday including the 1st XI play in the Premier Division of the Northants League. There are three senior Sunday sides, a Ladies & Girls Team and various age groups league sides from Under 11s to Under 17s and offers high quality coaching to youngsters from the age of five.

The club boasts 300 members of which 200 are playing members with teams made up of:

  • 3 Senior Saturday League sides / 2 Senior Sunday League Sides and a Friendly XI
  • 1 Ladies & Girls League side
  • 7 Junior league sides from Under 11 to Under 17
  • + 100 Junior members between 6 & 9 years of age

The club is always happy to hear from prospective new junior or senior members and also welcomes spectators into the main ground at Milton Road. The club operates a match day bar that is open not just members but all visitors and members of the public.
