We’re looking for a helpful, resourceful and patient person to provide care, support and enjoyment for our 14 year old son who has cerebral palsy. He requires assistance in all aspects of daily life as well as therapeutic input (which can be taught to the successful applicant) to help him develop his independence skills. He is social, interested and interesting despite the challenges he faces. The ideal candidate would be happy taking him to meet a friend in town as well as looking after his physical and personal care needs. It is quite a physically demanding job, albeit that we have appropriate handling equipment.
The role is for an average of 14 hours per week in the term time (usually evenings/weekends), with additional hours (up to 20 per week, depending on what is happening) during holidays, and babysitting and overnights by arrangement.
Experience of looking after someone who is physically disabled and associated therapy/handling/equipment would be helpful (not essential) as would an ability to do see what needs doing, get through the routine stuff whilst having some fun at the same time.
This role might suit someone who is currently in a TA/SEN role, a college student or someone who wishes to go into teaching/healthcare who wants a bit of extra cash & experience.
Based in Oundle. Start mid March. Pay: £10 per hour. The successful candidate will have to go through a DBS check. A more detailed job description available on request, or if you have any questions, please ask. Alternatively send a CV or a short explanation of experience to [email protected] by 14th February latest.
