Oundle Town Cricket Club was founded in 1826 is recognised as the oldest cricket club in Northamptonshire…
“The gentlemen and tradesmen of Oundle and neighbourhood have lately established a Cricket Club, and if we may judge from the public spirit of the projectors, little doubt can be entertained of it soon attaining great celebrity. The anxiety of each gentleman to become an adept in this noble game and to escape “scot free” is kept alive by this plan, and the social hour enlivened by the well-earned bowl.” The Huntingdon Journal – July 1826
The cricket club has a long association with Oundle School with many school masters having played for the club since its foundation. One such past club member of note is W.C.Grace Jnr (son of Dr W.G.Grace), who taught at Oundle from 1897 to 1903 during which time played regularly for Oundle Town Cricket Club.
In 1982 Oundle Town became one of the founder members of the Rutland League and then joined the Northamptonshire Cricket League in 2006 and have since won numerous trophies in each.
