In a date normally in July the whole of the beautiful centre of Oundle is closed to traffic, allowing around 70 stalls to be present at Oundle Food Festival providing an amazing diversity of produce and producers, and giving opportunities for people to reconnect with their food – tasting it as it really should be, and meeting the people who grow, nurture and produce it.
The aims of the Festival are to:
- Celebrate and showcase the amazing variety and quality of produce and producers both locally and nationally, and through a diversity of stalls at the Street Market, provide opportunities for people to reconnect with their food – tasting it as it really should be, and meeting the people who grow and nurture it.
- To show that high quality produce can not only lower the environmental impact but also lower your food bills
- To encourage people to support the local economy and reduce ‘food miles’ by buying local produce in the shops, farm shops, farmers markets, pubs, restaurants.
- Mount workshops, talks and cookery demonstrations to show how easy it is to enjoy growing and cooking your own food both cheaply and tastily, and indulge and relish in the simplicity and flavours achieved by doing so.
Talks and demonstrations take place in the town throughout the week of Oundle Food Festival which is now organised by the Oundle International Festival team.
