Oundle Museum is an award winning Accredited Museum located in the town’s old Courthouse building. It is free to enter and is open betweeen March and October on Saturdays, Sundays Bank Holidays and selected week days during August.
The Museum is run entirely by volunteers, with displays about Oundle’s history from the prehistoric period to the modern day. The museum has much to offer including many exhibits from the Roman, Saxon and Medieval periods in the permanent display gallery. Here also you can take a virtual journey by train in the 1950s.
Next to the permanent display gallery there is an exhibition room which displays a new theme each year, so there is always something new to see.

- Local Archaeological Finds
- Brewing and Malting
- Farming tools and machinery
- History of the town and its development
- Remand Cell with Prisoner
- A computer generated film of a steam train journey to Oundle
Every year there is a different exhibition in the ‘Theme Room’.
The Activity Room is a special area in the main part of the Museum for children of all ages. There are always dressing up, craft and drawing activities on hand to make sure visitors of all ages find something of interest.
Each year, in keeping with the exhibition in the museum, the displays and activities for children change.
